Contraception & Sexual Health Update

This course is 4 hours duration. This course is suitable for nurses who hold a recognised qualification in contraception (with or without LARCs qualifications) and who practice regularly. It will focus on new issues surrounding contraception e.g. new CHC regimes, new injectable, new IUS, contraception in the perimenopause and identifying when patients are at risk of STIs. It will also cover other topics that may arise on the day. The session will move fairly quickly to fit everything in.

2 Day Ear Syringing for HCA's

This 2 Day HCA course aims to provide the student with the knowledge to carry out safe otoscopy ans recognise common ear problems. It will also provide the student with underpinning knowledge to carry out safe ear irrigation. Priorto arrending the course, students are encouraged to 'brush up' their knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the ear. A pre-course pack aims to provide some information about the course and useful preparatory reading. All students MUST have their mentor acconpany them on Day1.

This course is a basic guide to dermatology for HCAs and Nurses new to this subject. It will include: 1. Recognition of normal moles and how to recognise melanoma. 2. Recognition of normal warts, BCC's, verrucas and other more unusual growths that require referral. 3. Eczema and psoriasis in babies, children and adults - basic recognition and treatments. 4. Common rashes - how to recognise and how to treat (including common childhood diseases and notifyable diseases). 5. Psychology - coping with living with a skin complaint and how it effects families.
