This course includes pre-course reading, 2 core days that is a balance of theory and clinical skills, department visits, in-house clinical placement with a mentor and final assessment undertaken by Clinical Training Limited. SRH Essentials

Are you a primary care practitioner interested in developing your sexual and reproductive healthcare knowledge and skills? The SRH Essentials Course is aimed specifically at healthcare practitioners working in primary care settings. It provides an interactive day with scenario based learning, presentations, time for discussion, questions and role play. It is relevant for those needing an introduction to SRH and also provides a useful update for more experienced staff. These courses are delivered in a variety of locations across the UK. SRH Essentials is not a competency based course and it is not assessed. At the end of the course, you will be able to: Develop the skills and confidence to consult with patients about their sexual and reproductive healthcare needs. Recommend an appropriate method of emergency contraception. Review the COC, POP and injection contraceptive methods. Carry out sexual health risk assessments. Identify when patients are at risk of STIs.

This session will cover the anatomy, physiology and functions of the skin. The blood supply and pressure points. Vulnerable areas and common sites for injury. Wound assessment and aseptic technique. Simple dressings and which ones to use/ Certification will be provided once course competencies have been completed.

This interactive session will cover the anatomy and physiology of the peripheral venous system. 'What is blood' - It's components and function. Consent and accountability. Infection Control. What is Venepuncture? Selecting which vein to use. Practical Session. Commonly requested blood tests and their relevance. Certification will be provided once course competencies have been completed.
