This is a basic wound care course designed for nurses, RNA’s and HCA’s working in General Practice and new to these skills. It will include A&P of skin & blood supply, assessment of a wound, Aseptic technique, Simple dressings, removal of sutures/clips.

Access from 09.45 only. This course is for those new to this subject and will describe the current UK national programmes for Influenza, Pneumococcal, shingles and B12 vaccines. It will cover all aspects including a brief overview of the immune system, legal issues, accountability, storage and handling of vaccines, Patient Specific directions, infection control, Injection technique and after care and advice.

This course is designed for Registered Nurses Associates and Health Care Assistants new to this subject or who may have previously attended a 2 day Introduction course (Influenza, Pneumococcal, Shingles, B12) but did not complete competencies for Pneumococcal and shingles at the time and now wish to do so.

This course is suitable for Registered Nurses. It is also for Registered Nurse Associates and Heath Care Assistants who have previously completed a 2 day Introduction course.

This course will include A & P, Infection control, correct procedure when collecting blood sample, disposal of equipment, legal aspects. PLEASE NOTE - ACCESS TO THE WILLIS IS NOT/NOT BEFORE 0915.

NB. This will be our only course on this subject we will be running.

This course is designed to prepare attendees to run a Travel Health Clinic. It includes Pre –travel risk assessments, Vaccine preventable diseases, Malaria Prevention and Other health risks

Immunisation updated aimed at general practice nurses and other health care professionals who administer/advice about immunisations. Topics covered will include both the paediatric and adult routine immunisation programme and topical issues.

Update in Travel Medicine This course is designed and delivered by a Travel Specialist Nurse and aims to update Registered Healthcare Professionals with the information and tools to confidently deliver accurate up to date Travel Health advice in a skilled and competent manner. On completion of this course the practitioner will have up to date knowledge regarding COVID 19 and the impact that it has made on travel. This course focuses on the considerations given to the Psychological aspects of a Travel risk assessment and considerations when advising senior travellers. In accordance with updates from the RCPSG Nov.2020(webinars)/ RCN Nathnac, Travel update May 2021.

This course is designed and delivered by a Travel health Specialist Nurse for Registered Healthcare Professionals who have the opportunity to practice Travel Medicine. On completion of the course the practitioner will be skilled and competent in delivering accurate and current Travel health care and advice to all travellers in a variety of settings in accordance with the RCN Travel competency guidelines (2018) The Guidelines will be updated December 2021, this course will be adapted accordingly.

This is a two day course designed for Nurses and HCAs new to Doppler and Leg Ulcer. By the end, the delegate should be able to: - Understand the theory behind dopplers, - Understand the reasons why and how to undertake the procedure and be confident after the practical session to carry out Dopplers with their own surgery. - Assess types of leg ulcers. - Assess who is more at risk of leg ulcers/identify factors which aid wound healing. - Identify common medical terminology surrounding wounds, wound healing and tissue viability. - Describe wound dressing techniques and the priorities of different wound dressings/feel confident after the practical session to dress leg ulcers appropriately. - Understand the importance of competence assessment in regard to the HCA/Nurse role in wound care and leg ulcer dressings.

This interactive session will cover the anatomy and physiology of the peripheral venous system. 'What is blood' - It's components and function. Consent and accountability. Infection Control. What is Venepuncture? Selecting which vein to use. Practical Session. Commonly requested blood tests and their relevance. Certification will be provided once course competencies have been completed.

This course will introduce the physiology of asthma, causes and treatments. It will also cover diagnosis asthma, emergency care and long-term treatment.
